The SFA have fined The Rangers £10k for failing to control their players and staff during the Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park earlier this season.

The away side won the game but showed no signs of winning graciously on the day with silly celebrations and outlandish behaviour on the touchline.

Instead of punishing players for specific actions, the SFA took the peculiar route of charging the club a s whole so they could be culpable for a charge but wouldn’t lead to any of their players missing game time. This in the back drop of Ryan Christie being retrospectively banned by the governing body.

The fine is pretty poor and does nothing to deter the sort of antics we saw at Celtic Park.

STV writes: “Following Tuesday’s hearing in front of an independent panel, Rangers were fined £10,000 with £3000 suspended until the summer and the remainder due for immediate payment.”

There’s every chance Celtic players and coaches have been using that game to spur them onto the form we’re now seeing. Celtic have pulled away in the title race after that defeat with The Rangers barely hanging onto our coat-tail.

I wonder if they’ll pay it in time. Celtic have received a similar charge for the game against Hamilton when a complete non-event has been scrutinised by the SFA putting both clubs in the dock and open to a charge.
