Celtic are once again the League Cup champions after beating Rangers 2-1 at Hampden on Sunday afternoon.

It was a fantastic day for all involved at the club. The club, the players and the manager were exemplary on the day and in the lead up.

The same can’t be said for Sunday’s losers who plunged new depths of pettiness in order to look as staunch as humanly possible.

You may have noticed the stitching on Celtic’s shirts signifying it was the cup final, the teams involved and the date of the game. This is a tradition that goes back years and both sets of finalists are expected to do it.

However, not Standards FC who were only two week ago preaching about having standards when they allowed Partick Thistle to get their goal back after a shady move by their own player to grab an unjust goal.

Rangers reportedly refused to have the standard words stitched or printed into their jersey because they didn’t want the name Celtic on their tops. [Daily Express]. The depth of pettiness and juvenility from this football club is comical. Instead, they had the ViaPlay cup final below and above their badge.

When Celtic and Hibernian played last season’s cup final, there was no issue with either club putting the fixture on their jersey.

To add to the depth of their sour grapes, the whole Ibrox side walked off the pitch before the trophy was handed out. Usually a club will stay on the field as a mark of respect, but they just couldn’t take it.

Dignity, Standards FC are wild.
