SCOTT BROWN looks to have upset Barry Ferguson with his comments on who the Celtic captain believes is the second best in the country.

With the caveat that he doesn’t understand why people were getting their ‘knickers in a twist’ about Brown’s comments, the former Ibrox man then goes on to get his knickers in a twist.

Speaking at Celtic’s kit unveiling, Scott Brown pointed out that Hibernian had been a thorn in Celtic’s side all season culminating in the Edinburgh side getting the best of the Champions last weekend.

Brown praised the job that Neil Lennon’s Hibs have done since coming up and declared them the second best team in the country – a mantle they could officially have if the next four games go there way.

However, Barry boy isn’t happy.

“I saw his comments and I can’t understand why so many people are getting their knickers in a twist. He was always going to say that. I just looked at it and laughed.

“Listen, I may not be the smartest guy in the world. I don’t know if I’m having trouble with my reading or if I can’t count.

“But I’m sitting here looking at a league table right now and as far as I can see it has got Rangers sitting in second place. There’s an old saying in football which always holds true; the league table does not lie.

“Celtic are the best team in the country which is why they are out in front of the rest. Rangers might only be in second place on goal difference, but it still makes them the second best in the country.”

Technically he’s right but if Celtic were only top on goal difference you would be sure he’d be telling us that they ARE NOT the best team in the country.

Whatever makes him feel better.
