The mainstream sports media in this country are contemptible at times.

John Kennedy’s off the cuff comment about Celtic being the best team in the country ON THEIR DAY has been taken completely out of context by the MSM who have omitted the ‘on their day’ caveat.

John was fully aware his team haven’t turned up this season and have not been ‘on their day’ often.

Yet, the papers and online publications continue to comment on the interim Celtic manager’s quote and are feeding it back to Ibrox in some sort of bizarre sweetie wife scenario.

Ibrox player, Barasic was asked about the comments and branded them a joke.

We’d tend to agree but for very different reasons.

Speaking to STV Barasic said: ““I thought it was the biggest joke I heard this year,” the full-back said.

“They haven’t won against us in the last three games and we are 20 points ahead of them.

“It’s a bit disrespectful to us.”

There’s no doubt Celtic haven’t been good enough and the Ibrox club have managed to get the results.

This is still the majority of a team who have won a treble and even more. It’s ok to say they’re a top quality team on their day.

Wilful ignorance from the media will be lining their pockets this week.

It was poor to hear Chris Sutton jump on the bandwagon with this sort of shock journalism.
