Former Rangers fullback, Alan Hutton has said that if he were Fraser Forster, he would rather make the move to Scottish Champions Celtic over Premier League side Chelsea.

In the last week, it has become public knowledge that Englishman Fraser Forster is wanted by Premier League giants Chelsea.

This comes after an extremely impressive season in Scotland, showing how good his ability still is, after his injury problems at Southampton.

In an interview with Football Insider, Alan Hutton admitted that of course there is a huge lure to make a move to a club like Chelsea. But if he were in Forster shoes he would be making the move back to Scotland permanent, once again.

“Obviously theres a massive lure at Chelsea and he’ll probably be on the same money and things like that, but as a player who wants to play football its not the ideal situation.

If I was him, I’d want to go to Celtic. The chance of winning more titles, being loved, being the regular in the first team. I do understand the Chelsea lure but I think its going to be difficult for him to go back to second fiddle.”

When Forster signed, Celtic fans had high expectations due to his first spell at the club, but I think some didn’t realise he would be this good again.

With the huge English goalkeeper being 32 years of age and coming to a crucial stage of his career, many will actually agree with what Hutton has to say. With both Celtic and Chelsea interested he has a decision to make. Whether to play into the latter stage of his career or take once last huge pay check at a club like Chelsea but play second fiddle.

During the invincible season, Craig Gordon was offered a similar opportunity but the club turned it down in order to keep the Celtic number 1.

As this season coming is such a huge one in the clubs history, many fans will be hoping that Forster feels the same way and decides to yet again return to the club.

In order to do that though it may take a huge push from the club and possibly Forster to make the move happen. If in the end it does happen but, I’m sure many fans would agree, they would feel much more confident having Fraser in between the sticks next season
