RAFA BENITEZ is currently out of work and has been linked heavily with the job at Celtic.

The manager left China at the back end of last year and has been since mulling over his options. The Spaniard has seemingly had talks with Napoli about becoming their manager in Serie A.

However, when asked about his next told, the Spaniard made the admission of what he wants and what he doesn’t want for his next role — it doesn’t really rule out a Celtic move.

“I’ve had so many offers in recent weeks, from South America to the Emirates, but that’s not what I’m looking for.” Rafa told RecordSport.

“I want to stay in Europe and I want to do so to be competitive at a high level.

“I’m looking for a project that will allow me to be competitive and with time and space to grow.”

Celtic have John Kennedy in charge until May but they have to be making moves right now to ensure they get a manager in promptly for preseason or even before.

Rafa still seems like a long shot and a direction the club might not want to go down. There’s no deep pockets at Celtic and Rafa has been notorious throughout the years for publicly pressuring boards he’s worked under to deliver cold hard cash.

The next Celtic manager needs to be a top coach who can get the best out of the team as well as being thrift in the transfer market.
