ANGE POSTECOGLOU has provided Celtic fans with an update on Kyogo Furuhashi.

The club’s top goalscorer this season has been sidelined since Boxing Day, a return does not seem imminent.

Speaking today, Postecoglou ruled the striker out of the Glasgow Derby and some of Celtic’s upcoming games. In full, the manager said;

The news is disappointing, especially considering how the player was injured, in a dead rubber game.

With Kyogo missing out on the Japan squad, Maeda was called up in place of the striker. He featured for just over 20 minutes but is set to return to Glasgow on Wednesday morning. The player will be assessed and depending on the outcome, he could be included in the squad for the derby match.

Fans do not know when to expect Kyogo back, but going by the manager’s comments it could still be a couple of weeks. This rules out many supporters hope that Kyogo would make a surprise return to the team on Wednesday night.
