Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi made it two goals in two games as the Hoops secured a crucial 3-1 league victory over St. Johnstone on Saturday afternoon.
The frontman, whose form has taken a noticeable dip this season, was much more lively than usual, even picking up an assist for Nicolas Kuhn with an effective cross.
Kyogo’s header in the game was admirable, and it followed his impactful cameo against Livingston last Sunday where he netted a clinical finish in the dying embers.
The 29-year-old does have considerable competition for his place in the team but at the minute, the striker spot is his to lose.
Indeed, Kyogo is coming on to form ahead of a crucial title run-in. He sent out a stark message on Monday morning, admitting he isn’t afraid of failing:
It is pertinent that the treble-winner has made such an Instagram post, and worded it in the way he has, not long after he missed out on a Japan call-up for the upcoming international break.
His teammate Daizen Maeda got the call but Kyogo, who also missed out on the Samurai Blue squad for the Asian Cup, wasn’t selected by Hajime Moriyasu this time around.
Despite his international situation, in the big games for Celtic, the little Japanese hitman can be deadly. His goals have proved the difference in two Glasgow derbies this season and with another on the horizon, fans will be hoping for more of the same.
Kyogo, and the whole team, seem to be getting back into their groove at the correct time, which only bodes well.
