Sead Haksabanovic looks set to complete his move to Celtic Park soon with Ange Postecoglou keen to add the forward player to his squad.

It is believed that the deal is very close with the Montenegrin winger jetting into Glasgow at the beginning of the week to complete his deal.

Celtic presently have an array of attacking options but former Hoops hero John Hartson has insisted that you cannot have enough quality in your squad.

This season is going to be very different for clubs not just in Europe but across world football with the World Cup taking place in November.

Postecoglou will be hoping that all his players return from the tournament with a clean bill of health if selected for their respective international sides.

His side will be looking to compete on four fronts this season which could mean a minimum of around 53 matches meaning that squad depth will be key.

Haksabanovic is a versatile player which is exactly the type of player Postecoglou spoke about adding to the squad as it will give him a real flexibility and make competition for places even more healthier.

“It’s more quality,” said John Hartson speaking on Go Radio.

“And quality is better than quantity.

“He’s not just somebody to add to the group I think he’ll come in and test the likes of Abada and Forrest on that right-hand side.

“He’s a winger that can play across the front so he looks another that Ange can add to his existing quality.

“You don’t just want to bring in players that aren’t as good as the ones you’ve got for the sake of having numbers.

“Ange will bring him in with a view to using him, I’m sure about that.”

One of the players likely to get less game time with Haksabanovic’s arrival is James Forrest although the winger was handed a bumper contract extension until 2025.

It is likely that Forrest at 31-years old is happy to be part of the squad who will still get some game time throughout the season.

“I actually thought with Forrest, one of the big reasons he signed a new deal is because he’s been a great player for Celtic over the years.

“He’s conducted himself properly, with some huge performances in Europe and he’s got medals coming out of his ears.

“I thought they gave him that new deal so they can get more for him in the transfer window if they had the opportunity to sell him.

“But obviously there’s been no talk of him going anywhere. But with Haksabanovic coming in, another quality player who can play on the wing, you do wonder (about Forrest).

“You have to back the manager, he’s got a plan for him.”
