Celtic lost 2-1 to Sydney FC on Thursday morning in the first game of the Sydney Cup. The Hoops are down under to play in the tournament during the domestic shut down.

It was a poor result for the travelling Celts who now turn their attention to Everton on Sunday.

One player who looks unlikely to play in the game against the English Premier League side is Stephen Welsh.

The Scottish defender was subbed off in the second half of the game on Wednesday when hr was involved in a head clash. The extent of the damage done to Stephen was made evident in the images below. The Hoops player took a sore one.

CCV is out in Qatar for the World Cup. Jenz, Starfelt, Welsh and Lawal are Celtic’s centre backs for the trip. If Welsh is out, Jenz and Starfelt should start the game against Everton with Lawal on standby by for a second half appearance.

You can never be too careful with head knocks. Given the game is just a friendly, Welsh should take it easy.
