Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis is being considered for a recall to the Greek international side after his upturn in form over recent weeks.

The 27-year old joined the Hoops on summer deadline day, having come off the back of an impressive campaign in the Netherlands, finishing top goalscorer in the top flight with former side VVV-Venlo.

After a slow start to life in Glasgow, Giakoumakis has kicked into gear in recent weeks, scoring six goals on the Hoops return from the January winter break, most recently adding a crucial hat-trick in the 3-2 win over Dundee at Parkhead.

As reported by reliable Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulous, Giakoumakis is now being considered for a recall to his national side, with his previous cap coming in March last year.

Many of this Celtic side have been recognised for their good form across the season with international call-ups, so it is good to see another is being considered for the international stage.

Of course, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will first of all be looking forward to the return of Giakoumakis, with the striker missing the last two fixtures through illness.

If the frontman can continue his good run of form over the next few weeks and for the rest of the campaign, it will certainly help his case to make a return to the Greek national side in no time.
