Patryk Klimala left Celtic without making any sort of memorable impact on the Celtic team.

The striker was brought in as a project but it quickly became apparent Neil Lennon didn’t seem interested in developing the player.

The Polish striker never got a run of games and for all his efforts in training and bulking up it was never enough to secure him a first team place.

His move to New York Red Bulls came as a surprise in many ways. Mainly because Celtic recouped the mone they paid for Klimala in the transfer. Rarely do you see that happening when the player in question hasn’t made the grade.

What’s even more intruiging is Patryk has managed to just about triple his salary in the US.

The forward’s agent has to get immense credit for the deal.

At Celtic, Patryk was on £5.8k per week, equating to around £300k per year [Salary Sport], at New York Red Bulls, the striker has become their highest paid player and will take home a base wage of $1million [around £800k].

MLS clubs are duty bound to divulge their salries because of strict spending caps within the league. [MLS Wages]

Patryk has done alright for himself but now must prove he’s worth the investment.

Klimala’s teammate and former Celtic youth player Cameron Harper is on €200k at the same club. Hopefully if they hang around New York City together, Patryk picks up the tab!
