ANDRES INIESTA has been talking about his career with FourFourTwo magazine and the Barcelona legend was reminded of the night his side were defeated back in 2012 and surprisingly, he speaks fondly of that night.

On Celtic’s 125th anniversary the bhoys welcomed the Catalans to Celtic Park in a Champions League encounter. That night, something special was in the air. It was wave after wave of Barcelona attacks but it would be Celtic who took the lead through Victor Wanyama in front of a rapturous crowd.

With the game still in the balance and Celtic defending for their lives, you got the feeling Barca would get their goal, and to their credit, they did! It just came after Tony Watt entered the field of play and was put through on goal by Fraser Forster, it was a Xavi error and the youngster was through on goal, 2-0 Celtic.

As we mentioned, Barcelona got a consolation goal in injury time when they finally got past Fraser Forster but Celtic would win the day in a special night.

Iniesta recalls it well.

He told FourFourTwo: “I remember that well. One goal from a corner and another on the counter.

“Football is wonderful for reasons like these – the team who has the ball or the better players doesn’t always win.

“I’ll never forget playing against Celtic, either. The atmosphere is one of the best in the world.

“I was fortunate to play there several times and it was always so intense.

“It was an honour to play amid such incredible noise.”
