Ange Postecoglou has conceded he’ll be without his first choice Celtic defender Carl Starfelt for most of pre-season as he delivers a squad update.

Celtic are currently in Austria where they’re taking part in a rigorous training camp ahead of the new season.

While it’s not ideal, Carl should be back for the Aberdeen opener at the end of July. Even at that, would the Hoops boss risk the Swede’s involvement if he’s not had many games in his legs.

Carl was stretchered off in his full debut for Sweden in the summer. The after effects of the injury troubling him at this point in time.

Elsewhere, Josip Juranovic is nursing a slight injury as is Liel Abada.

Quoted by SunSport, Ange delivered this injury update. “

“Carl is the one who will probably miss a lot of this pre-season. But we’re pretty confident we’ll have him back for the start of the season. Everyone else should be fine for the bulk of this pre-season, hopefully.

Carl Starfelt Celtic Absence

The Swede being out will lend more game time to Chris Jullien. After the Frenchman failed to agree a move to Schalke – could he now push for a place in the starting XI vs Aberdeen.
