BRENDAN RODGERS and Celtic’s night went from bad to worse in Germany with their lacklustre performance compounded by the fact it looks like they’ve lost one of their first choice defenders for Sunday’s semi-final.

Celtic take on Hearts at Murrayfield for a place in the final of the league cup and with Boyata out suspended due to idiotic petulance it was up to Jozo Simunovic to partner fellow Croation Filip Benkovic.

However, the player, who seems to be cursed with injury problems landed awkwardly when he jumped up for the ball in the second half against Leipzig.

Jozo was quickly substituted for Jack Hendry but Rodgers says it is n’t looking good for the player in his post-match interview.

“Jozo looks like he’ll be struggling. He took an awkward landing when he jumped for the ball.

“He will be a question mark for the weekend.

“Unfortunately Boyata – who I thought was outstanding tonight – won’t be available at the weekend. But Jozo will struggle to make it.”

  1. Celtic played ok last night given who went out.Looks like my Ian Dury and the Blockheads reply earlier has come true, just in time for the Scottish mug game this Sunday. The Hoops lack of cash spent during any window, is coming back to haunt them. Too many players on the books my arse, too many injury prone on the books is more like it. Sell all the hobbled masses. And get some proper midfielders in and make them beef up and able to play with both feet. And grow from there. Sorry St Brendan, no EXCUSES this time for the board, they have to back you now.
