This one came out of the blue but today Calvin Miller has confirmed he is out for the season.

The Celtic fringe star who was transformed from a striker to a left back by Brendan Rodgers will have no opportunity to push for a place in Neil Lennon’s side.

It was just last week when Calvin was lining up for Celtic in a closed door friendly against Hibs at Lennoxtown and this week he’s gone under the knife.

We’re unclear what the issue is but whatever it is Calvin has told his followers it will keep him out for the season.

The player has only ever made two appearances for the first team and spent some time out on loan to Dundee in the past.

It looked unlikely he could make the breakthrough this term and if Neil Lennon sees him as a left-back we now have three players in front of him with Boli, Hayes and Taylor.

We wish Calvin all the best with his recovery.
