Lately it feels like Celtic rarely have all of their defenders fit and fighting for places at the one time.

With Boyata being out, Ajer just back from injury then re-injured and loan signing Benkovic playing two games before falling victim to an injury – Celtic aren’t having the best luck.

Celtic welcome Aberdeen to Glasgow this afternoon and only have two first-team defenders to call upon in Dedryk Boyata and Jack Hendry.

This crisis could get worse if neither Benkoivic or Ajer is back in time for Celtic’s semi-final showdown next month. Dedryck Boyata will be suspended for that tie leaving just Hendry in that scenario.

Marvin Compper is still training with the squad but the Celtic manager seems reluctant to use the German and didn’t even include the centre back in the Europa League squad, much to peoples surprise.

Celtic fans are pining for a day where they have a settled centre back pairing who can stay fit long enough to build a real rapport.

  1. This is why we need a seasoned pro that covers at short notice,we need to Buy in one or two 30 plus year olds that will be there if and when needed they can play in games when the young lads need rested ,same in midfield one or two seasoned pros and a seasoned pro CF and get all the dead wood out now to make room for the five seasoned pros we bring in that way we could hold on to 14 or 16 top younger players that the manager wants and keep a Sqaud .of 24 or max 26 players.come on sort this out
