Interest Confirmed – Midfielder’s Celtic Career Looks Over

RYAN CHRISTIE looks certain to leave before the summer transfer window closes after Sunderland boss Jack Ross confirmed he’s a player he’d like to bring in to the Stadium Light.

The former St Mirren man has already used his contacts in Scotland to sign players this window and he’s now looking to cash in on his friendship with Brendan Rodgers to secure a loan deal for the little midfielder.

“Ryan is a player that I like, he has good qualities but again it is a balance between what we need in the squad.” Ross told the Shield Gazette. 

“He is a left footer and we don’t have a lot of them in the squad in forward areas. “He is a player that I am acutely aware of and he fits the kind of bracket in terms of he has played a lot of games for a young man.”

Rodgers admitted he cannot guarantee the former Inverness Caledonian Thistle man game time and suggested back in June that the player himself might want to explore other avenues.

Christie spent a year and a half on loan to Aberdeen where he was one of their best players, helping the Dons twice to a second place finish.

He was hoping to make the breakthrough at Celtic but as the season starts to get into full swing, he’s had very little opportunity.

The signing of Daniel Arzani means he has even more competition.

Sunderland aren’t able to sign players on a permanent deal with the English window being shut, however, they can sign players on-loan with a view to buying in January.
