USA manager Gregg Berhalter has talked up the possibility of Celtic defender Cameron Carter Vickers receiving an international recall, confirming that the 23-year old is on his radar.
The Tottenham Hotspur loanee has enjoyed a good start to life at Parkhead since joining on summer deadline day, playing in the majority of games since his arrival under Ange Postecoglou.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Berhalter has revealed that those performances have caught the eye of those within the American men’s national side, and a recall could undoubtedly be on the cards for CCV.
“We are definitely monitoring Cameron.
“We have a lot of competition at the centre back position. But we think he is performing well, and he is definitely on our radar.”
So far, Carter Vickers has featured only a handful of times for his national side, which he qualifies for through his father, but is yet to make a competitive appearance for his country.
His form with the Hoops will certinaly have helped his cause, playing a part in the best defensive line in the Scottish Premiership so far this season.
The defender’s performances have even led to calls from supporters to sign him up on a permanent deal, with the possibility of securing the option to buy on his current loan deal.
Hopefully, we can see Carter Vickers’ future with Celtic and the United States international side unfold in the next few years as a permanent signing at Parkhead.
