ODSONNE EDOUARD has grown into a top player in front of our very eyes. Brought in on loan from PSG to be a bit-part player under Rodgers at first – the player got his chance during that season and showed enough to warrant the club breaking their record transfer fee to keep him in Glasgow.

Since then, it has been the Edouard show! The striker has come up big for Celtic on so many occasions, vital league games and cup finals come immediately to mind. He continues to grow and develop and prove he is the best player in Scotland at the moment.

His exploits for France Under 21s last year haven’t gone unnoticed either, the striker came in and scored ten goals in just five appearances for his country.

Speaking about his international star, Eduards’s France under 21 boss, Sylvain Rispoll, has heaped praise on the Celtic striker.

“As for all French hopefuls playing at this level in an important club, it [a full French cap] is obviously a big objective for him.”  Rispoll told SunSport.

“He has to keep working to still improve because he has all the capacities to do better and better.

“Celtic is an historic and very important club, but it is true that a big European championship can help to take him to the next level.

“When? This is another question.

“He must not set limits. He only needs to be focused on his work and on the improvements he can make, because he certainly has big potential.

“As I said before, it may be a step to cross in his career [to go to a bigger league], but Celtic offers him a lot of positive things and allows him to compete on the European stage.

“The French national team is the dream for all of our young players and I wish them all to reach it.”

Unlike some international managers, Sylvain doesn’t appear to be trying to push Edouard towards a quick Celtic exit. The under 21 coach sees the value in his ascent at Celtic, however, he and the support also recognise we can’t keep a hold of the striker forever and there will come a time when Edouard needs to move on – we’re just hoping it isn’t this season.
