A Dutch website has credited Celtic with an interest in Albert Gudmundsson of AZ Alkmaar.

FcUpdate claim the Hoops could look to take advantage of a contract dispute between the player and his current club to tie up a deal for the striker who can also play several other attacking positions.

Gudmundsson is an Icelandic international who was brought up in the youth system at Heerenveen and has also spent time at PSV during his career.

The player’s contract is up in the summer — according to the aforementioned report — talks have stalled between the two parties.

Verdict

Celtic are in the market for a striker, if they can play across the front three — even better.

However, this is the one and only time Celtic have been linked with Gudmundsson so far and it appears the report claims both Glasgow clubs are interested. It’s always a sure fire sign a representative of the player is trying to get their name out there.

We’ll keep an eye on this one, but file this link under ‘tenuous’ at the moment.
