CHRIS SUTTON has flipped the Celtic managerial debate on its head somewhat by suggesting Neil Lennon might not take the Celtic job if certain parameters aren’t met.

Many in the media and our own fanbase depict Neil Lennon as Oliver Twist with his bowl reaching out to Peter Lawwell asking nicely if he can please have some more.

However, while the history book awaits any man who takes us over the line with nine and ten in a row, the heat heading up to that feat is going to be tremendous. ANY new manager will need resources and some big ones to freshen up this Celtic side.

The notion that Neil Lennon will just take anything he gets to secure the job is preposterous and does him a disservice.

Chris believes Peter Lawwell needs to make the Celtic managerial decision soon in order for the club to go forward but he even questions how much that decision is up to the chief executive.

“I don’t think Neil would take the job unless he’s given the backing in terms of being able to bring players in but the club need to make a decision quickly. Do they trust Neil or don’t they?” Sutton wrote in his RecordSport column.

“Is it even Peter Lawwell’s decision? And if it is, does he want the power back? Or will Dermot Desmond make the decision? Whatever way you look at it, now that Celtic are where they are – closer to titles nine and 10 – the pressure is absolutely on.”
