The Rodgers Revolution has not been the runaway freight train that many assumed it would be, following his sun-drenched unveiling during the Summer, but to say it has been dull would be to miss the mark by a few hundred yards. The steady progression has been heartening to witness, with all the signings looking as though they can make positive contributions.

I initially had doubts about Kolo Toure. At Liverpool he looked mistake prone and with the advancement of age I presumed it would be an issue that would blight his honeymoon period at Celtic Park, however, he has, thus far, looked good. Strong and always aware of his position he has acted as a calming influence in place of the beleaguered Efe Ambrose. Although compared to the Nigerian, even a primed nuclear warhead would be a tranquil entity.

Youngster Moussa Dembele has taken longer to acclimatise, this, however, is far from abnormal considering his age and the level of excitement following his move. While at times he looks ungainly and indecisive operating as a lone front man, when paired with the dynamic Leigh Griffiths he looks an entirely different prospect; looking faster, stronger and crucially – more intelligent. If Rodgers can find a system that allows the two goal-getters to operate as a pair, while ensuring that they are not overrun in midfield, then we could be in for an exciting season.

Lastly, and most enjoyable has been the signing of Scott Sinclair. One of Rodgers disciples from his spell at Swansea, it was always going to be a more seamless introduction for the former Aston Villa wide-man. Having said that, even the most starry-eyed Hoops supporter could not have predicted the impact he would have made during the victory at Tynecastle. Thrown on to turn the tide in a game that looked in danger of petering out, the hedgehog-haired schemer did just that. Scoring a crucial goal, from a perfectly weighted and constructed Griffiths cross, that is eerily similar to a Henrik Larsson effort nearly fifteen years ago.

With three weeks remaining in this transfer window you would like to assume that more funds would be willingly dispensed to help Rodgers formulate his vision. For my money the centre of the park can still look laborious at times, with players getting bogged down with unnecessary touches. Hopefully a skilful, dynamic, box-to-box midfielder can be unearthed to inject a little urgency to proceedings.

The future does indeed appear to be bright, but if Rodgers wishes to continue to ride the crest of this wave he is on then a victory in ten days’ time against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, by a sizeable margin to allow some breathing space in the away leg, is imperative. But bearing in mind what we have seen already seen and adjusting for the inevitable improvement, would you really back against the Bhoys in Green?
