Scott Brown is playing some of the best football if his Celtic career at the moment. After overcoming many niggling injuries that have plagued him throughout the past two seasons, the midfielder seems reinvigorated and has been a great example of Brendan Rodgers effect on the team.

Scott retired from international football in the summer, wanting to focus on his club career and prolonging it at the same time. A decision that was met with delight from most Celtic fans who had seen him look burnt out over the past few years.

So when Scotland were off making a disaster of their qualification group, Scott Brown was at home doing light training and getting ready for the big games for Celtic which he excelled in when they came.

However, news broke last week that the midfielder has had a change of heart and is now in the squad for the upcoming qualifiers. So instead of having that down time as Celtic head into a monumental and perhaps the busiest part of their season, the Celtic captain will be pulling on a Scotland jersey and trying to fix the damage caused by the previous two qualifiers.

While I’d never begrudge a player the chance to play for his country, I’m very worried that the player will become burnt out again with the games coming thick and fast. Broony himself probably didn’t see his rich vein of form coming and that’s why he bowed out of the international stage. Having run the Celtic midfield he quite fancies doing it for the Scotland team again. I can’t fault that but as a Scot who is so-so about our international game I hope it’s not to the detriment of Celtic.

Hopefully, Scott comes through the games unscathed and ready to head into a period where Celtic will be playing once every three days.
