ISMAILIA SORO was reportedly a target for Neil Lennon as he prepared to ready his team for the Europa League next season.

At the time, any chance of a deal being struck was doubtful due to the wage drop the midfielder would have to agree to, never mind a fee that would satisfy Celtic. The Cypriot side has only forked out a seven-figure fee once, which was back in the 2008/09 season.

Now a report from 24Sports claims that the club has denied these rumours, and they are not interested in Celtic midfielder Ismailia Soro.

It seems to be a piece of lazy journalism. Linking a Celtic outcast signed by Neil Lennon, to the Northern Irish manager’s new club.

It’s still likely that the Ivorian will depart Parkhead this summer as he’s clearly not in Ange’s plans.

Celtic have already shown their intent to move players on, with Vasilis Barkas heading out on loan last week. The club will be keen to move Albian Ajeti and Boli Bolingoli on with Ismailia Soro.

  1. Lazy journalism is all we have in this country, fitba-wise at least. Make up some pish that connects a to b via c, and Bob’s yer auntie wi’ a strap-on – straight to press and called award-winning at a later date.
