Celtic Star Liel Abada is on his way back to Glasgow after failing to get over an injury picked up in the Israel training camp earlier this week.

The Hoops winger headed out with the rest of the bhoys on international duty after last weekend’s win over Hibernian. It was in Liel’s first training session with his country that he limped off and needed a scan.

There was hope it wasn’t a big deal when Liel returned to training and persisted with the injury in a bid to play for Isreal.

In the end, it’s proven futile and Liel will now be assessed by Celtic’s medical team at Lennoxtown.

Cited by SunSport, Israeli boss Alon Hazan revealed the lengths Abada went to in order to play for his county:

To Liel’s credit, it should be said that he did everything to be fit but unfortunately he arrived injured and it’s not possible.

It is a minor injury but it would still limit him from playing. He did not agree to give up the possibility of being available and has tried everything, but it hasn’t worked.

Liel makes most of his Celtic appearances from the bench but he’s still a big part of Ange’s setup. After 60 minutes when the starting XI has run the opposition ragged, bringing on a fresh Abada can pile on more misery to defenders trying to catch their breath.

Any time out would be a blow to Celtic.

We are still waiting to find out the status of other injured stars like Reo Hatate and Greg Taylor who are incredibly pivotal to the title run-in.
