PETER LAWWELL has addressed shareholders at today’s AGM and given some insight into the inner workings of the club and how they have rebuilt and are rebuilding since Brendan Rodgers left the building.

The Chief Executive described this year as ‘amazing satisfactory’. He also had high praise for new head of recruitment Nicky Hammond who is currently undergoing a complete overhaul in the way Celtic go about their transfer business.

Lawwell praised Brendan Rodgers for raising the bar and also his current manager for maintaining the standard’s set.

“It was a difficult year. But we made history and a profit. Amazingly satisfactory.” Lawwell told RecordSport.

“Our back room of Damien Duff and John Kennedy was vital when Brendan left.

“We will always be indebted to Brendan, he raised the bar on a number of issues and standards.

“Then Neil stood up to the plate in our moment of need, Neil is a great manager.”

On head of recruitment Nicky Hammond.

“Nick Hammond has been exceptional. We got the right players in.

“The real core of the team are under long term contracts’

“We are stable on and off the pitch.

“Nick is rebuilding our recruitment department and we have high, high hopes for him. We have to find uncut diamonds and the basis is good recruitment.”

Celtic are well into this season and apart from the disappointing Champions League exit, the club have been going from strength to strength. From recruitment to on the field displays, Neil Lennon has his bhoys playing extremely well.

The club have a lot of things going for them at the minute.

We’re waiting to here from Peter on the current controversy surrounding the Green brigade. As the AGM goes on, we’ll get more from the Chief Exec.
