CHRIS SUTTON has told Neil Lennon and Celtic the best thing that could happen to the club before the end of the season is the return of their number 9 Leigh Griffiths.

The Englishman had been a big critic of Leigh previously this season, branding the striker overweight and complacent. Shortly after that, Leigh had to take time away from football to sort out his personal life and get to a better place away from the pressures of the game.

Since December, we’ve not heard much from the striker other than a few social media posts about how he is getting on and wants to be back as soon as possible.

Chris believes it would be ‘sensational’ if Leigh could get back before the end of the season and give Celtic a massive shot in the arm in their bid for a triple treble.

“Leigh Griffiths needs to be fully ready before he returns to action.” Sutton Wrote in his Record Column.

“But, for the sake of his club and his country, it would be wonderful if he could be sighted again before the end of the campaign.

“All I am saying is that it will be sensational for Celtic and for Lennon if he can get himself back into the reckoning, preferably before this campaign comes to a conclusion.”

Celtic are ten points clear in the league and are closing in on eight in a row. The Scottish Cup is more tricky with the bhoys likely having to go Aberdeen and Hearts if they want to win the trophy.
