PAT NEVIN has claimed former Ibrox youngster, Billy Gilmour would suit Celtic and vice versa if Chelsea were to send the player out on loan again this summer.

Gilmour has come back from a spell at Norwich and will perhaps not see much game time at Stamford Bridge next season

However, the pundit concedes knowing Billy’s family – a move to the Scottish Champions would unlikely to be on the cards.

Speaking to BoyleSports, Nevin said: “I know Billy a bit and his family and yeah Rangers would suit his style and so would Celtic.

“Knowing his family though, the Celtic one is unlikely.

“He’s different class Billy, he’s a super player. But he needs to be playing for a team who plays good football which is suited to him. I think Celtic and Rangers style would work for him, but because of his family, it wouldn’t be Celtic for him.”

We got a glimpse of the staunchness of the Scottish international’s family when his mother made sure she didn’t touch the green part of the Norwich jersey when they joined him signing on at Carrow Road.

Celtic and the Glasgow Rivalry

The Scottish international needs to continue to grow and yes, under any other circumstances, I’d maybe be looking to bring a player like Billy to the club.

We have saw players move across the divide before, but it doesn’t happen often. There’s just no way we’d see Gilmour anywhere near a Celtic jersey. People outside of Glasgow might think it’s a peculiar thing to say – but the depth of feeling in the West of Scotland means these moves are very rare.
