CELTIC Defender Jozo Simunovic has become a surprise target for Lazio it emerged today.

According to reports in Corriere dello Sport, the Italian side are keen on the big defender and are willing to spend some serious money to bring in defensive reinforcements.

This isn’t the first time Jozo has been subject to interest in Italy and previously was very close to joining Torino before last minute complications scuppered the deal.

Jozo has not had any game time since Celtic’s 4-0 defeat to Hearts in December and was a bystander at the recent 0-0 draw at Celtic Park with The Rangers.

Kristoffer Ajer seems to have usurped the Bosnian’s position which could expedite a move this month if Celtic feel they get a good enough offer.

We reported earlier this month that Crystal Palace were hot favourites to land the defender, but an Italian intervention may yet be on the cards.

Celtic teammate Liam Henderson has also been in Italy training with Bari, with a view to a deal with the Serie B club.
