Serie A side Atalanta have reportedly joined the race for supposed Celtic target Aaron Boupendza.

Recently, reports from Turkey suggested that Celtic were plotting a move for the striker, who has scored 22 goals in 36 appearances for the Hatayspor attacker.

Now though, as reported by Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Atalanta have joined the race and stepped things up by bidding £8 million on the former Bordeaux man.

At first, when these reports were suggested (more here), like many other Celtic fans we were extremely reluctant about these links to the 24-year old and now it seems even more unlikely that the Hoops will be anywhere near a deal for the frontman who has attracted interest from several clubs.

Whilst he only has one year left on his deal which could make the deal more affordable, when sides from leagues such as the Serie A enter the race it just gets bumped up even more.

Many have also asked the question as to who could be part of the team making these transfer decisions whilst the club still awaits the confirmation of a new manager.

However, the club cannot just grind to a halt when it comes to this, especially with the size of rebuild we have ahead in the summer.
