Latest Ibrox signing, Filip Helander more or less told anyone listening that the only thing he knows about Scottish football involves the champions, Celtic. The Swede could only identify with fellow countryman Henrik Larrson when he was giving his first interview to Rangers TV.

“As a Swede growing up in the 90s and Noughties, I obviously saw Henrik Larsson a bit so I was watching the Old Firm.”

The defender who has just signed from Bologna has targetted playing against Celtic as one of his main ambitions.

“I can’t wait to face Celtic. That was also one of the reasons I wanted to get here to play in Europe”

The Ibrox club must give new players a script to read from when they sign. The message is always the same, the new signing is coming to take the title away from Celtic and they can’t wait.

So far, not one Ibrox signing has managed to live up to their promises of ending Celtic dominance. For the past three seasons whoever has been at the helm at Ibrox has brought in at least ten new players every summer.

Celtic seem to be going for quality over quantity as Neil Lennon has signed three players so far. Two of the three are tried and tested defenders. While it’s good to see the Celtic management has gone out and panic bought so far, they do have a lot of strengthening needed to the squad.
