JOHN MCGINN came to Celtic Park last Saturday with Brendan Rodgers already holding the player in high regard.

The Irishman took a long look at John in the summer before deciding the player would be best developing at Hibs. This hasn’t stopped Rodgers from keeping an eye on him and the dynamic midfielder stole the show at Celtic Park with two top strikes that put Celtic 11 minutes away from their first domestic defeat under Brendan.

Thankfully we have our own Scottish midfielder, Callum McGregor who saved the day and scored his own brace to make sure that undefeated run keeps on going.

John has not done any harm to his growing reputation in the game with his performance on Saturday. There will be many sides looking at the 22-year-old this summer and you better believe Celtic will be one of them.

Hibs boss, Neil Lennon has put a £5million tag on his MVP but Hibs would likely deal below this with a future percentage fee negotiated for any move he’s likely to make.

With Stuart Armstrong’s future beyond this season still up in the air, it is not certain Celtic’s midfield will be the same this time next year.

Celtic will look to get to the front of the queue for the player but time will tell if they can persuade Hibernian and the player that his future lies at Celtic Park.

Once upon a time, Celtic missed out on James McCarthy who left Scotland to forge a top career down south – many will hope we don’t let that happen again.

Would you welcome John McGinn to Celtic?
