JOEY BARTON has been put in his place by the unlikeliest of sources after former Gers boss Ally McCoist tore into the former Ibrox midfielder.

Joey slated the Scottish game, claiming he was too good for it and that’s why he failed north of the border.

Ally McCoist is no stranger to failure but even he thinks Barton’s nonsense is a step too far.

Speaking on TalkSport McCoist slammed Barton for his lack of contributions that seen Celtic thrash his old side.

“That’s a cry for help. That there…is he serious? He’s suggesting that…making passes that people weren’t reading. I must’ve missed those passes.”

“What I didn’t miss was the 5-1 doing we got at Celtic Park when Joey played in the middle of the park with [Niko] Kranjcar.

“We got absolutely over ran.”

Oaft, tell us what you really think, Ally? I wonder who he holds responsible for the 5-1 Ibrox doing.
