ANGE POSTECOGLOU is insistent that he wants instant success in Europe’s top competition.
Winning the league last year meant that Celtic got straight into the Champions LEague without having to play in any qualifiers.
It’s been a tricky start so far for Celtic. Despite a great performance in the opening matchday against Real Madrid at home, Celtic fell to defeat. Looking to pick three points up in Poland, the Hoops were held to a point, failing to capitalise on some great chances against Shakhtar Donetsk.

In an interview with 10 Football, Ange Postecoglou has stated he wants to make history with Celtic in the competition. He said;
“Absolutely, mate.
“I’ve got no time to waste. Everywhere I’ve managed or coached I’ve wanted to break new ground and do things that haven’t been done before.
“That’s why I’ve always cherished every bit along the way and that’s why I want to do here.
“We’ve had domestic success, but I want to make an impact in Europe. That’s where the football club deserves to be, it’s a massive club. It’s one of the few that’s one the European Cup so it’s got tradition in Europe.
“in recent years it hasn’t had the progress that it deserves. That’s what I want to try to do, I don’t want to use the Champions League as a great experience, I want to be in there to make and impact.”
Postecoglou has talked about wanting to improve year on year, until the side can challenge in the later stages of the competition. It’s not an over night thing, or something that can happen after one transfer window. It’ll take years, but with Ange at the club, there is a confidence that it can happen, especially if the team has a good year in the competition this season.
