J-League striker and reported Celtic target Adio Onaiwu has revealed he has read all the speculation linking him with a move away from Japan.

Onaiwu was the frontman for Ange Postecoglou’s former side Yokohama F Marinos and has recently been linked with a move to Scotland to join up with the 55-year old coach again.

As quoted by Sun Sport, the striker revealed he has read the speculation but also stated his concentration remains on his current sides chase to win the league.

“I’ve read about the speculation about my future, but my only thought at the moment is to try and catch Kawasaki Frontale in the league because they are nine points ahead of us.

“I think I’ve had a pretty good season, and a lot of that is down to the chances created by my teammates. We are on a great run after winning six matches in a row, and I think you can see that we have not let the loss of the manager cause us problems.

“I believe I have improved a lot even from last year, and this season I am scoring chances that I may have missed last season. But to win the league, I must keep scoring goals, and that’s what I want to do here. The future will take care of itself.”

The striker has been on impressive form this campaign, scoring 15 goals in 27 appearances and even scored a hat-trick on his first call-up to the Japanese national side.

His links to the club don’t come as much of a surprise due to his history with new Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou.

It is certainly something that the former Socceroos coach will likely be trying to use to his advantage with his great knowledge of the Asian game. Something which isn’t as well known over here in Scotland.

Fingers crossed, we can see some transfer movement soon, though, as the time ticks away before the competitive campaign kicks off.
