Former Celtic defender Jack Hendry made an impressive Champions League debut as his new side, Club Brugge, picked up a point at home against PSG.

The 26-year old was up against the frightening front three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. However, he held his own on the night as the Belgian side kicked off the European campaign in a positive manner.

Last season, not many could see where the Scotland internationalists career was headed whilst at Celtic.

Going out on loan to Belgian side Oostende revitalised him as a player, and he has now kicked on to the high heights of facing some of the biggest sides in the world in the Champions League.

Of course, with every player that leaves Celtic, supports like to give their assessments.

With Hendry, in hindsight, many will likely state the club should have kept him on.

However, the move to Belgium has clearly been perfect for his football career, and there is absolutely no guarantee that sort of change would have come if he remained in Glasgow.

It is good to see someone who spent time with the club’s academy at a young age go on and do well for himself and fair play to him for doing the hard work to get there.
