Jack Hendry made a swift return from injury this afternoon, as his loan side Oostende took on KV Mechelen and fellow Celtic loanee Marian Shved.

Last weekend, Hendry was forced off in Oostende’s emphatic victory over Standard Liege. Some were left fearing that the defender’s injury was a long-term one, injuring both his ankle and his shoulder which could have also ruled him out of a possible spot in the Scotland squad this summer.

However, despite those fears, he made an instant return to the starting eleven in their fixture against Mechelen, where his former Celtic team-mate Marian Shved is also currently out on loan.

In the end, it was the Ukrainian who came out on top in this fixture as both sides race for a European place with Mechelen coming from behind to win 5-3.

Both players, unfortunately, didn’t come face to face in the 90 minutes, with Hendry starting before being replaced after 73 minutes. Whereas Shved was a late sub for his side, coming on with five minutes of regular play remaining.

The two teams will come up against each other again soon, meeting on the 19th of May in the penultimate game of the season.
