Almost three weeks after we got the dreadful news that Jackie McNamara had collapsed near his home with a bleed on the brain, we’re delighted to tell you all the former Celtic player was discharged from hospital this weekend.

Jackie had to undergo emergency surgery after he was found unconscious and rushed to Hull hospital. From there, the Celtic icon has been recovering with his family by his side.

RecordSport spoke to a family friend who said:

“There’s some great news, he got home.

“He has obviously been through the mill in the last three weeks since everything happened.

“But they have now deemed him fit enough to go home and I believe he had a Chinese takeaway last night.”

Absolutely brilliant news!

The Celtic family have been sending their well wishes and prayers since Jackie was admitted to hospital.

The former player is still very much part of Celtic. He takes part and runs special Celtic nights for supporters, owns a Celtic bar with former Parkhead teammate Simon Donnelly over in Spain and is Greg Taylor’s agent.

We hope to see Jackie make a full recovery in the weeks and months ahead and we wish him all the best.

Hail Hail.

  1. And a big thank you to all the medical staff too. Without their input Jackie may be no longer. Raise a glass for them and Jackies recovery. HH.
