JAMES FORREST gave us a sharp reminder of what he’s all about and what playing Celtic means to him with his comments ahead of the game against Cluj.

The midfielder is not instantly thought of like an out and out Celtic man because he goes about his business quietly and in his younger days split opinion among the support.

Since James Forrest joined the first team he’s been part of a squad which has won

  • 8 League Titles
  • 5 Scottish Cups
  • 4 League Cups

James debuted for Celtic back in 2010 in a 4-0 win against Motherwell with the winger scoring on his debut for the club.

Over the piece, the player has scored some pretty important goals and none more so than the late goal against Shakhter Karagandy.

Under Brendan Rodgers, the player excelled and while playing at his peak, he signed a new long-term deal with the club. Not for any reason other than wanting to stay and win things with the club he has supported from a young age.

There is a lack of loyalty in football at times but Forrest bucks that trend, even when he was receiving stick from the support. The winger has gone from breakthrough youngster to a dependable and exciting member of the squad.

The headline says he’s an unsung hero and in a literal sense, he is! We have two songs about Jonny Hayes but none about the midfielder who has excelled in a Celtic jersey. Not a jibe at Jonny Hayes but when you look at both contributions – it’s no contest.

He won Celtic’s player of the year last season and rightly so. His trophy haul is up there and he shows no signs of stopping.
