JAMES FORREST has spoken about THAT video from Celtic Park where he was trying to explain to Reo Hatate he had won the man of the match award on his debut.

Reo put in a top performance against Hibernian and left the field to a standing ovation on the night.

At the end of the game, as Celtic usually do, they name the man of the match over the tannoy. Reo got the nod, but he had no idea why his name was being called out over the tannoy.

The camera panned to Reo on the bench and showed James trying to explain he had won the man of the match.

Speaking about the moment, James doesn’t believe Reo picked up any of his thick Scottish accent:

“I could hear it [the tannoy] alright but he didn’t have a clue what I was saying,” laughed Forrest. “It was funny, though. I think somebody else had to tell him. I was speaking too Scottish for him.” James told The National.

“They have always settled in well, they seem really good within the group, and they seem to really fit with the way we play because they all work really hard, which is what you need in the Scottish game.”

Speaking about the influence of Ange Postecoglou’s new signings, James believes they have brought something different to the table and helped galvanise a team that was going nowhere last season.

“All the boys that have been here for a wee while were talking about it the other day. Obviously we didn’t win anything last season but it is kind of exciting again and I think there is a freshness that comes with Ange [Postecoglou] and playing with new players from different countries.

“You can learn something new from having that, it doesn’t matter what age you are. I think that’s the case now with the Japanese boys coming in and someone like Jota coming in. It is good to be involved in and the squad is exciting just now. We have won one cup now and just looking forward to rest of season.”

Celtic go into an important run of games now that will make or break their season. They are four points behind in the title race and have a derby just off on the horizon.

Ange and his new bhoys will need to dig deep to make sure they can assert pressure on the current champions who won their title behind closed doors.
