Celtic winger James Forrest has sent out a warning to the Hoops Scottish counterparts, stating that the Hoops are showing signs that they are back.

On Saturday evening, Ange Postecoglou’s side secured a place in the Premier Sports cup final with a 1-0 victory over St Johnstone, thanks to a goal from the experienced winger.

Speaking after the victory, Forrest stated that this win was a good chance to show that the Celtic of old are back, as they continue to build momentum under the former Socceroos boss.

“Was this a chance to show we are back? Definitely,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“Last season was the first in I don’t know how long we didn’t win a trophy, so with a new team and a new manager, it’s great to get into a final.

“It’s different from when the manager first came in; there has been a lot of turnaround and players leaving.

“Players have come in, it was maybe unsettling at times, but I think lately things have been really positive and really good.

“For everyone, especially the boys who have come in and haven’t played in a final before, it’s great we have that to look forward to in a month’s time.

“We had to get there.”

As stated, over the past month or so, the momentum and confidence within this squad has continued to build.

Saturday’s result and reaching a cup final will help this group massively when it comes to the experience and winning mentality that is needed when you are a Celtic player.

Of course, some players remain from one of our most successful eras, with the likes of Forrest and Callum McGregor.

However, after such a disappointing season last year and a whole host of new players, that sort of winning mentality will need to be rebuilt under a new regime.

Fingers crossed, we are on our way to doing that, with the results & performances we have seen in recent weeks.
