James Forrest was the hero at Celtic Park this afternoon, scoring a last-minute goal to earn Celtic a 1-1 draw with St Mirren.

The result wasn’t what the team wanted, but Forrest gave the fans something to cheer about with a historic moment. His goal means he has now scored in 16 straight seasons for Celtic — a huge achievement for a player who has given so much to the club.

The game itself was slow and flat. Celtic had already won the league weeks ago at Tannadice, and Brendan Rodgers made several changes to the team that beat Aberdeen 5-1 during the week. The players brought in couldn’t find their rhythm, and the team looked off the pace. St Mirren took advantage and went ahead in the second half with a well-taken goal.

Celtic struggled to create clear chances. Passes went astray, and the energy just wasn’t there. It looked like the game was slipping away until Forrest stepped up in stoppage time.

The winger, now 33, reacted quickly to a ball in the box from Alistair Johnston, and calmly finished to level the match. The goal wasn’t just important on the day — it made history.

Forrest’s form could now give Rodgers something to think about ahead of next Saturday’s Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen. With other wide players like Nicolas Kuhn not hitting top form, Forrest might have done enough to earn a starting place at Hampden.

The draw ends Celtic’s league season on a quiet note, but Forrest’s moment gave supporters a positive ending, and a reminder of his quality and experience. As the team looks to finish the season with a cup win, his late goal may have come at just the right time.
