Celtic are looking to step up their attempts to strengthen their squad before the deadline next week.

One players name that has been put out there is James McCarthy.

Some scoffed at the link when it came out over a week ago but since then Celtic have qualified for the Champions League, giving them a much needed cash boost to be able to afford the deal.

New Everton boss Ronald Koeman has privately told James that he isn’t in his immediate plans which has prompted the player to look at his options.

Quite simply at this moment in time, Celtic would like to bring the player to Glasgow and James would walk over broken glass to do so.

However, Everton would like to recuperate some of the outlay they spent on him and would prefer a permanent deal. Celtic would not put up the sort of cash Everton are looking for so a loan deal could more than likely come to pass the nearer we get to the window closing.

James is a Celtic fan and has been all his life, he once was linked with the club when he played for Hamilton before moving down South and making a name for himself. He would jump at the chance to play under Brendan Rodgers for Celtic in the Champions League.

What everyone should know is Celtic are extremely busy trying to get players Brendan Rodgers would like to see come in.

  1. Everton will want to make a profit on James not recoup some of their outlay. There will be serious Premiership interest in the player and other than a relatively expensive dive loan , I just don’t see Celtic having much chance .

  2. Apparently his dads not to well so he wants up the road to be closer to his family that come directly from a friend of the family not me
