James Morrison spoke candidly after Scotland’s win in Malta at the weekend about Celtic’s interest in him.

The WBA midfielder wasn’t aware of Celtic’s interest till the last day of the window when Celtic seemed to losing out on Brendan Rodgers other targets throughout the day.

“Obviously I am not playing at my club at the moment and there was an enquiry.” said the midfielder.

“But the club said no. With my position at the minute I would definitely have considered it. But it didn’t happen so I am just looking forward to trying to get back into the team.

“The last day of the window was the first time I had heard of it. My first goal is to get back playing regularly for my club again and try and force my way back into the Scotland team.”

As Celtic’s interest didn’t seem to come till the deadline would it be safe to say Rodgers will pursue other targets come January before Morrison or will the Irishman make an early play for the Scottish International?
