CELTIC have been on outstanding domestic form for quite some time, which makes it hard for anyone to try and break into the team.

All Celtic’s summer signings have found it tough going, even Olivier Ntcham couldn’t get into the team against Bayern such is the depth of talent.

With that in mind, there’s one man sitting at Celtic Park right now who will have a big decision to make come January and that man is Jonny Hayes.

The attacking midfielder was brought in before Celtic new they could get Patrick Roberts back and when James Forrest was suffering from injuries. The player now finds himself on the periphery of not just the team but the squad.

Hayes would have been even more disappointed when he found out he would not be part of Ireland’s playoff squad. Not playing regularly for his club side was a big reason for Martin O’Neill’s omission.

If Ireland can win their playoff game this week then they’ll be heading to the World Cup and the player will be conscious he needs to be playing.

If Jonny is still not playing by the turn of the year he will seriously consider his options. This is probably the 30-year-old’s only chance to get to a major tournament and add to his 4 caps.

  1. I ACcept Hayes has hardly set the heather on fire so far but I think the manager will give him the full season to try and make an impression and hopefully will stake a realistic claim in the coming months , there will be plenty opportunities for him with injuries more than likely for most players, up to the player himself to take his chances

  2. Never want anyone out the door, especially as he has just arrived. On a different note, I thought young Christie was outstanding the other night. The standard didn’t faze him , looking forward to him coming back.
