It has been a bit of a difficult start to life at Celtic, for January signing Yosuke Ideguchi, who hasn’t seen much game time since his arrival in the winter window.

The midfielder was one of three additions signed from the J-League by Ange Postecoglou, as the Celtic boss looked to build his squad, adding more quality options in the midfield area.

His difficult start is down to no fault of his own, given Ideguchi picked up a nasty injury that kept him out for several weeks due to the dreadful tackle during his first start for the club in the Scottish Cup tie against Alloa Athletic.

However, not the midfielder is back to full fitness and vying for his spot in the side, Ideguchi is looking to emulate the success that his fellow countryman, Kyogo Furuhashi, had in his early days in Glasgow.

“I want to secure my position in the Celtic team, to play every game constantly and have a consistent run,” he said, speaking to the Celtic View.

“Joining the club at the same time as Reo and Daizen helped me because I want to contribute alongside them as much as I can.

“Before we signed, Kyogo was big news in Japan with the way he was performing here, and I hope I can do the same.”

It has certainly been a very unfortunate start to life in Glasgow for Ideguchi, and even Ange Posteoclgou has spoken out about how unlucky he is not to have been given more game time.

Ange’s comments about the 25-year old are very promising, given he has been described as one of the hardest workers on the training ground. So, hopefully, that can prove as a building block for him to make his way into the side.

The midfield area is a very congested one for this Hoops side, with plenty of quality. So, it is an exciting thought that we could add even more when Ideguchi is handed more game time and an opportunity to showcase what he can add.
