CELTIC are set to travel to Hampden this Sunday to face Hibernian in the League Cup final. After missing out on the delayed trip to Hampden last year, many Celtic fans will be looking forward to the occasion as they should be.

As COVID cases are rising and the latest variant takes the country by storm, the leaders of the country are worried about the potential risk of fans traveling from all over to the national stadium. Measures are in place however, to attend the event proof of vaccination or a negative lateral flow test must be shown.

As cited by Football Scotland, The National Clinical Director – Jason Leitch – admitted he is not as worried about the virus spreading at the game itself, but on transport to and from the match. He said;

“Once you get to the cup final, I’m actually not that worried because that’s outdoors, it’s a big space, it will be Scotland in December — it will likely be windy and cold. So the virus won’t like that. What I am worried about is the buses, the cars, the trains getting to that event.”

The leaders are worried about the new variant, despite early signs and studies showing some form of good news, the variant is still to be studied fully meaning no one really knows how to treat it. Hopefully, it will prove to not be as serious as feared and the football grounds can stay open.
