NEIL LENNON has given Celtic fans an update on Jermie Frimpong after the youngster was stretchered off during the Kilmarnock game on Wednesday evening.

Celtic won the game comfortably, beating the home side 3-1 on the night. It was all going great for the bhoys until Jeremie Frimpong was mowed down by Alan powers who looked like he could care less about going through the teenager.

Frimpong immediately signalled he was in trouble. When the physio was allowed on to assess him they had to call for a stretcher and strap his leg before taking him off the field as the Killie fans booed.

Asked after the game on live Sky Sports TV how the defender was doing in the aftermath of the game, Lenny provided a positive initial update.

“It looks like it’s hopefully just a bit of bruising,” Lennon told Sky Sports after the match.

“I don’t think there’s a fracture there at the minute, but we’ll see how it reacts tomorrow.

Celtic fans will be holding their breath and hoping Neil Lennon’s initial assessment is correct.

With Elhamed still out, we would only have Bauer in the position. At least there’s viable backup if he misses the weekend’s game.
