Former Celtic managerial target Jesse Marsch is on the move.

As we suspected, after the manager spoke highly of Celtic and links with the club emerged, he was always staying in the Red Bull family.

Back in March he caused waves in Glasgow by talking about the Hoops.

“I’ve heard [about the links]. It’s an honour for me,” Marsch told BBC SPORT.

“Three or four years ago, being linked with a club like Celtic would literally be an impossibility for me. And now that this is where I am, I always just try to look at it in terms of, ‘what would the project look like?’

“Would we have similar ideas in how to build it the right way, invest in the academy, invest in young players and create this development process that I’m talking about? And not just focus on winning.

“Obviously I know that when you’re the coach of Celtic, winning is the most important thing.”

It’s being reported by German outlet Kicker, the American coach is on his way back to RB Leipzig to become the main man.

Marsch spent time at Leipzig under Ralf Rangnick’s as his assistant before getting the move to Salzburg where he’s been very successful.

The Red bull family have clearly earmarked the coach for the German job for some time and now their coach Julian Nagelsmann has committed to Bayern Munich, they’re getting ready to appoint the manager.

Marsch is a highly intelligent and modern day coach. He has also spent time at New York Red Bulls in his own country.

Many Celtic fans saw Jesse as an ideal replacement for Neil Lennon back in March but the trail went cold fast after the manager spoke of his admiration for the Hoops.

Maybe someday down the line.

Celtic are in advanced talks with Eddie Howe to become the next Celtic manager.
